The eClass asynchronous learning platform supports course delivery, facilitating interaction between students and instructors, enables material sharing and allows online assessments. Students are required to register for courses on E-Class to stay informed about activities and updates.

Postgraduate students without prior MSc qualifications are entitled to travel discounts within Greece, including:

  • Urban transport in Alexandroupolis.
  • Intercity bus services.
  • Students must present their special student pass (Student ID) issued by the Secretariat when travelling.

 

The Career and Employment Office of the Democritus University of Thrace was established in 1997 as part of the Operational Programme for Education and Initial Vocational Training. Its purpose is to serve as an information hub for the University’s students and graduates, acting as a bridge between the academic and the professional communities.

The Employment and Career Development Structure of DUTH was founded under the Operational Programme for Education and Lifelong Learning, within the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF), and is managed by the University itself. DASTA is responsible for coordinating and implementing the activities of the Career Office and the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Unit. Its mission is to equip individuals with the tools necessary for personal and professional development.

The Library of the School of Health Sciences is located in a building of 1,400m² on the University campus in Dragana. It features a Reading Room where users can access and utilize the collection's materials. Postgraduate students may also use the Library of the School of Education Sciences (located in Alexandroupolis, Nea Chili). All members of the University community, as well as non-university medical professionals, including doctors, pharmacists, nurses and other healthcare professionals, are eligible to borrow books. Books can be borrowed for a period of two weeks. Additionally, the Library is equipped with a photocopy machine, and photocopies of library materials are provided free of charge for a limited number of pages. Full details are available in the Rules and Regulations of the Library and Information Center of the University.

The electronic platform Philologus is an innovation at Democritus University of Thrace, supported by the Linguistics +Morfosis Laboratory of the Department of Greek Philology. Its aim is to provide linguistic correction and philological editing for texts written in the Greek language by members of the University community.

It is available to all members of the Democritus University of Thrace community (students, faculty members, research staff, technical staff and administrative personnel).

As part of gaining experience in language expression and the proper use of written academic discourse, undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as graduates from the Department, under the supervision of professors and collaborators from the Linguistics +Morfosis Laboratory of the Department of Greek Philology, undertake the linguistic correction and philological editing of texts written in Greek (such as scientific papers, monographs, articles, etc.).

To participate, individuals must submit their text for correction in the designated field. The proposed corrections are highlighted for the author of the text to consider when finalising its formatting, should they choose to accept them. This service is offered free of charge, with the sole condition that the names of the editors and proofreaders are acknowledged in the acknowledgements section of the published text.

The Psychological & Counselling Support Centre provides psychological and counselling services to help prevent mental health issues within the university community, particularly for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students. Staffed by psychologists and social workers, the Centre is based in Komotini, with an additional office in Alexandroupolis. The personal data collected and processed by the Psychological and Counselling Support Centre is strictly limited to what is necessary for the specific, clearly defined purpose and legal requirements.

Microsoft 365: Microsoft 365 Account  A suite of Microsoft 365 software for academic institutions. Microsoft 365 for Education includes productivity and collaboration software, as well as cloud services.

It is available for free to members of the academic community at Democritus University of Thrace.

MS-Teams: In addition to in-person teaching and asynchronous distance learning, synchronous distance learning is available. This allows real-time communication between instructors and students simulating in-class teaching without requiring students' physical presence.

The institution of the Student Advocacy Office was established in 2019 with the following aims:

  • Mediating between students and instructors or administrative services,
  • Ensuring adherence to legal frameworks within academic freedom,
  • Addressing issues of mismanagement,
  • Safeguarding the proper functioning of the university.

The Student Advocate, who heads the respective office on a voluntary basis, may be a professor or emeritus professor at DUTH and is appointed by the University Senate following the Rector's proposal and the Student Welfare Council's opinion. The Student Advocate does not have authority over examination or grading issues.

To ensure the continuous improvement of the quality of services provided by the Academic Departments of Democritus University of Thrace to all students, a complaint and objection management system has been established. The procedures offer reliable, systematic and impartial recording and handling of any issues students encounter during their studies. Students have the right to submit complaints or objections regarding any problems or concerns related to the services provided.

The complaints and objections management policy applies to all active students across the three cycles of study at the University's Academic Departments.

Before submitting a complaint or objection, students are required to review the Study Guides and the General and Specific Rules and Regulations of the Programmes they are enrolled in, as well as the University's Internal Rules and Regulations, to understand their rights and obligations.
