Master's Thesis
The Master’s Thesis is a complex, multi-level educational process that includes a theoretical or laboratory/experimental approach to a topic within the scope of the MSc programme. It is one of the most successful approaches to student-centered learning. Every postgraduate student is required to complete and successfully defend their MT publicly. The topic of the MT falls within the scope of the MSc programme, utilising and expanding the knowledge acquired through the programme’s educational activities, while simultaneously applying and further developing skills and competencies. The MT is carried out through regular collaboration and supervision by the supervising professors. The MT text must meet the specifications and structure of a scientific paper and should be written in Greek or, by agreement with the supervisor and approval from the Coordination Committee, in English. The MT must be submitted to the three-member committee along with the results of plagiarism detection (using the Turnitin application) and a declaration that it is the product of the student’s work and not the result of plagiarism. Detailed specifications are outlined in the Master’s Thesis Regulations .
The objectives of the thesis are:
a) the development of the postgraduate student's research skills and the ability to conduct high-level research through solving/presenting a scientific issue/problem,
b) the ability to evaluate information and effectively use scientific literature,
c) the acquisition of experience in writing a scientific paper, utilising the collection, analysis and recording of experimental or field research data,
d) the sharpening and cultivation of the student’s critical thinking abilities.
The Master’s Thesis Rules and Regulations outline all the relevant procedures for the assignment, completion and evaluation of the MT.
